Cestina is a hand-blown glass pitcher whose design frames the act of pouring water, transforming it into a slow, scenographic, almost symbolic ritual. Inspired by hanakago, the traditional Japanese baskets used for Ikebana, Cestina consists of a vessel and an oversized coloured handle that invites water to be poured with care and attention.

ENQUIRY
Unlike traditional pitchers, conceived primarily as functional and practical objects, Cestina is closer to a bucket—a simple, primordial object whose typology and ancient gestures it recalls. Water is poured slowly and carefully, as something precious, using both hands and turning an everyday action into a precise and elegant gesture. The large circular void defined by the handle encourages a broad, rounded movement, while the tapered shape of the vessel gently guides the hand into position to support the gesture. At the same time, by minimizing the object’s point of contact with the surface, the design gives Cestina an ethereal, floating presence. Cestina thus takes on a contemplative role on the table, becoming an aesthetic presence that enters into dialogue with what it contains. It celebrates the slowness of everyday gestures while creating a delicate, suspended landscape. The project is presented in two sizes and three colour variations.
